Every year, Shade staff and students have the incredible privilege of visiting the local center for children with albinism and other disabilities to celebrate Christmas (in February!). This center is where Shade’s story began, so it holds a special place in our hearts.
This year’s celebration was overflowing with joy, and we witnessed God’s presence in powerful, unforgettable ways. Here are just a few of the highlights:
Worship: We spent time in worship — singing, dancing, and lifting our gratitude for all the ways God has blessed us. Tanzanian Executive Director John Migila shared a message of hope and unity, praising God for the gift of belonging to this beautiful family and the incredible work happening in our midst.
Fellowship: Laughter and celebration filled the air as the children put on a talent show, sharing their unique gifts with joy and confidence. A lively Q&A session followed, creating opportunities for open dialogue between the children, staff, and caregivers. Together, we also celebrated the local heritage with traditional Sukuma songs.
Service: As always, our mission goes beyond celebration — it’s about care. The Shade team distributed essential items like toothpaste, laundry soap, and other hygiene products, meeting practical needs with love and dignity.
Prayer: When God’s people pray, amazing things happen. We experienced that truth firsthand as the entire Shade team encircled the children, holding hands and lifting them up in prayer — asking that they would know God deeply and see His miracles in their lives. This time of prayer didn’t just impact the children; it moved the staff as well. One team member shared how the Shade community has been life-changing for their own spiritual growth. Reflecting on this powerful moment, John Migila said, “I really saw the power and the love of God.” Praise God!
A Shared Meal: Gathering around a delicious meal brought everyone together in a special way. As we ate, conversations deepened, bonds grew stronger, and the sense of community grew even sweeter.
